Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin visited Highbridge on 25th April to meet local haulage firm R T Keedwell and to hear how current Government policies are affecting their business. Accompanying him on the train from Bristol, local Conservative campaigner James Heappey was able to explain why Highbridge is such a great place to be doing business with excellent links to the M5, mainline railway and Bristol International Airport.
Meeting with staff at R T Keedwell, Mr McLoughlin heard about the many challenges faced by haulage firms – not least the highly volatile fuel prices – but also the many excellent and innovative ways that this firm had managed to cut costs and make their business even more competitive.
“I know that Patrick really enjoyed his visit to Highbridge and was most impressed with what he saw at Keedwell’s” said James Heappey. “Too many people do Highbridge down but the simple truth is that the town has so much going for it – it’s a great place to do business and a great place to live. I look forward to meeting many more Highbridge businesses over the coming months and looking for ways that I can help to bring more investment to the town and to raise its profile in the region.”
