Croscombe Village Hall was full of local shoppers on Saturday as the village put on its annual Autumn Charter Market. From Bric-a-Brac to delicious home-made cakes, jams and chutneys and from locally produced apple juice to meat and poultry that was alive and well on local farms and small-holdings just a day or so beforehand; trade was brisk and there were many buying plenty more than they’d come looking for. Other stalls were raising money for local charities including the vital Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Service.
Joining Croscombe locals for a quick bit of shopping and a cup of tea was local prospective MP James Heappey.
“We were out on one of my normal Saturday Street Surgeries to meet local people and finding out what’s concerning them locally and nationally but as we got to the Village Hall, it was obvious we were missing out on a big local occasion” said James.
“So we stopped off for a slice of cake and quick cup of tea before meeting some of the talented local stall holders. The market was packed and everyone was reporting a good morning’s trade which doesn’t surprise me in the slightest as everything looked delicious.”
